Christmas, as most of us know, is the day that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.  It is a time when Santa, the human resource manager in the Children’s department, rewards Children based on his assessment of their behavior in the past year.  Parents become kids once again as they sit with their children to watch the Christmas specials and they make scrumptious dinner for the family . Houses and streets are decorated with lights and Christmas trees bringing warmth to every onlooker.  The ambiance thus created is heavenly.

However, the significance of this day lies not just in its holiness . Christmas  is celebrated all over the world by all groups of people regardless of their age, race, cast, creed and nationality. This day  is an opportunity to be grateful for what you have, spend time with people who really matter and also to make friends.  In the end, like many festivals, its all about sharing the love and making this world a peaceful, harmonious and joyful place to live.

ओलम्पिक खेल अन्तरराष्ट्रिय स्तरमा आयोजना गरिने बिभिन्न खेलहरुको प्रतियोगिता हो । आधुनिक ओलम्पिक खेलको सुरुवात ग्रिसको आथेनमा सन १८९६मा गरिएको थियो ।
ओलम्पिक खेल प्रतेक चारवर्षमा हुने गर्दछ । यस अघि सन २००८ सालमा चिनको बेजिङ्गमा आयोजना गरिएको थियो । यस वर्ष अर्थात २०१२ सालको ओलम्पिक खेल बेलायतको राजधानी लण्डनमा यही जुलाइ र अगस्तमा हुन गैरहेको छ ।
“ओलम्पिक” नाम परा पूर्बकालीन ग्रीस भाषाबाट आएको हो । यसले नाम “ओलम्पिक खेल” भनी ओलम्पिक खेलका लागि गठित अन्तरराष्ट्रिय ओलम्पिक कमिटीले राखेको हो । “ओलम्पिक” नाम ग्रिसको दक्षिण पश्चिममा रहेको अर्धटापु पेलेओपोनेशको ओलम्पिया भन्ने स्थानमा सर्व प्रथम खेल प्रतिस्पर्धा गराइएकोले यसको नाम “ओलम्पिक प्रतिस्पर्धा” भनि राखिएको थियो ।

सन १८९६ देखि सुरु भएको ओलम्पिक खेल हरेक चार बर्षमा हुने गर्दछ र सन १९२४ देखि जाडोको मौसममा पनि ओलम्पिक खेलाउन थालियो । अन्तरराष्ट्रिय ओलम्पिक कमिटीले सन १९६० देखि शारिरीक अपाँगहरुलाइ पनि खेल मैदानको प्रतिस्पर्धामा उता¥यो । १९७६ देखि खेलाइने शारिरीक अपाँगहरुको खेललाइ “प्याराओलम्पिक खेल” भनेर नामाकरण गरियो । यसरी गर्मी मौसम र जाडो मौसममा हरेक दुइ दुइ वर्षमा प्याराओलम्पिक खेल हुन थाल्यो । Read more…

Eraser: For what? You didn’t do anything wrong.

Pencil: I’m sorry, you get hurt because of me.

Whenever I made a mistake, you’re always there to erase it.

But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself and get smaller and smaller each time.

Eraser: That’s true, but I don’t really mind.

You see, I was made to do this, I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong,

Even though one day I know I’ll be gone. I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying I hate
seeing you sad.

“Our Parents are like the eraser, whereas we children are the pencil.

They’re always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes.

Sometimes along the way they get hurt and
become smaller (older and eventually pass on)

Google has marked the 101st anniversary of the birth of the origami grandmaster Akira Yoshizawa with a new doodle.

The search engine giant dedicated the doodle to pay tribute to the Japanese-born Yoshizawa, with letters in the doodle turned into paper butterflies representing the art form, made popular by Yoshizawa.

Yoshizawa was born in 1911 to dairy farming parents but moved to Tokyo when he was just 13 where he started working in a tool factory.

In his early 20s, he was promoted to a technical draftsman and used origami, a skill he had acquired as a child, as a tool to teach younger employees basic geometry. Read more…
