Google Server in Nepal

September 16th, 2011 No comments

Google Inc installed the Google cache server in Nepal at NTC  office Jawalakhel Internet Exchange Point, operated by Nepal Telecom(NTC).

A Google cache server is a dedicated network server that saves Web pages or other Internet content locally. By placing previously requested information in temporary storage, or cache, a cache server both speeds up access to data and reduces demand on an enterprise’s bandwidth.

With the installation of google cache server the services provided by Google will be faster than before. Google services such as Gmail, Youtube etc will now be accessed faster from Nepal. This will also help NTC by reducing its bandwidth access and reduce its cost.

“After the installation of Google server, Internet bandwidth uses of NTC has been decreased” Said NTC representatives.

How NTC reduce its cost with the installation of google cache server?

Firefox 6 due next week

August 14th, 2011 No comments

The next version of Mozilla’s web browser, Firefox 6, will be officially released on Tuesday, August 16. There are no major UI changes; most of the other changes are under the hood. That’s a welcome upgrade as Firefox 6 is reportedly 20% faster than Firefox 5. Also, while Firefox 6 does offer full screen support, it’s not Lion-native fullscreen support, which is somewhat of a disappointment.

For those of you who don’t want to wait till Tuesday, you can actually download the final release of Firefox 6.0 here from Mozilla’s FTP servers.

June 6th, 2011 No comments

WWDC was first held in Monterey, California in 1983. This small gathering of developers has blossomed into one of the major annual events for Apple’s extended community of vendors, engineers and enterprise/academic IT management.

In addition to the ‘meat’ of the event (technical sessions covering hundreds of topics for developers, code labs and face time with Apple engineering staff), WWDC has become an opportunity for Apple to announce new versions of Mac OS X, new hardware and new versions of iOS. The event has grown in importance as Apple has eliminated or scaled back its participation in trade shows like Macworld Expo.

Read on for the best of WWDC Past: a funeral for an operating system, a spoof of Steve Jobs and much applause. Read more…

March 29th, 2011 No comments

Today the popular company called amazon launch its amazon cloud storage. Amazon do this silently, there was no any rumored about  this new service, the other company like apple and google are rumored to launch the cloud store but this is now live my amazon, that is great idea.

Amazon cloud storage has 5 GB of free space available. You can upgrade to $1/GB like 20GB, 50GB etc.

You can upload any data from music file like mp3 to any document files. It’s an awesome idea to store data on cloud. Even you can listen the music on build in browser which is like itune player. The music you buy from amazon get automatically backed up on cloud.

Amazon cloud can be access from any where thorough Internet, you can listen stored music from android based mobile phone using amazon mp3 application. But the most annoying thing I found is that I cant access it in UK. Currently its for US customers only.
